Hardwood Floor Installation

  • Your specific needs are met by spending the time prior to beginning the installation walking through each detail of your wood floor with you.

  • Craftsman Floors will ensure that trim pieces, nosings, vents, direction of floor, boarders, inlays, transitions to carpet and tile are all addressed so that the wood floor that you want will be achieved.

We follow industry standard procedures to minimize the natural movement of your wood floor by the following:

  • Testing the moisture of your wood at time of delivery and prior to installation.

  • Ensuring that your subfloor is adequate for wood floor installation.
  • Installing a vapor barrier between your subfloor and your flooring material.

Dust Free Sand and Finish

Bringing out and maintaining the natural beauty of your wood floor is our passion. Our craftsmen, equipment, finish materials and processes create a floor that is flat, smooth finish, durable and easy to keep clean. Choosing the right stain color for your floor and home decor is not a stressful process.

Instead of the standard color fan with 5 – 6 choices that most contractors provide, Craftsman Floors will mix any color that you like and show you large swatches on your floor so that you can see what you floor will look like against your paint, cabinets and other décor. We will keep mixing stains until there is just the right amount of the colors that you are hoping for.

This is just one more thing that Craftsman Floors does to ensure that your floor is right for you. The right finish is important for the look and durability of your floor. We use only the best materials available and will work with you make sure that we choose the right finish for your particular needs. Sheen, water base or oil base are just some of the considerations in choosing the right finish for your floor.

Dust Free Refinishing

Your existing hardwood floor can be restored to its new condition. We have refinished hundreds of floors while being considerate of our customer’s paint, trim, carpet, and other furnishings. We have the best dust containment system available that will ensure that there is no mess or dust in your home when we leave. One of my favorite comments from a customer is “I had no idea that my floor could look that good!”

Hardwood Floor Recoating

Extending the life of your hardwood floor can be achieved through recoating at the appropriate time. Lightly screening and recoating with one coat of finish can significantly extend the life of your floor and restore the look of a newly finished floor.

It is important that you recoat your hardwood floor before the finish wears off and dirt becomes trapped in the grain of the wood. It is important to note that recoating will remove minor surface abrasions but cannot remove deep scratches or gouges. The time between recoats will depend how clean the floor is kept and the amount and type of traffic it sees. You will want to look at your floor closely after 1.5 to 2 years to see if you are ready for a recoat.

You will know it is time when you start to see wear in the higher traffic areas. A screen and recoat for your wood floor is like having your carpets cleaned and usually requires just one day off your floor. Please remember to not use any cleaner that will leave a film on the floor. Murphy’s Oil Soap will leave a film that will not allow the new coat of finish to bond to the old finish.
